White Poop
White Poop: Stools that are white are not customary and need to be seen quickly by a medical professional. White stools are due to no bile in the stool, which might indicate a fairly serious causal problem.
Bile is the digestive fluid that is created by the liver and the gallbladder is used for storage. Stools get the usually brownish color from bile, which is expelled from the gallbladder into the small intestine during the process of digestion. When the liver does not produce bile or if the bile is blocked from leaving the liver, the stool will be white or light colored.
Liver diseases such as cirrhosis and hepatitis may cause white stools. In some cases, the problem is not because of the liver but in the duct that delivers this bile to the intestines. This duct may be blocked or squeezed shut – for instance, by a tumor or gallstone – which prohibits any bile from flowing into the intestines. Some babies are born with bile ducts that are constricted.
