Spleen Pain: Pain from the spleen isn’t a very common happening but may occasionally occur if the spleen: is injured, enlarged or ruptured.

Severity of an illness of spleen may fluctuate, starting from minor to easily correctable, to crisis and a condition that is life-threatening.

The spleen is an organ that is heart-sized that is situated in the left section of the abdomen. It is right beneath the ribs, and close to the organ of the stomach. Not very big in its regular state, and is made of spongy tissue and can contain up to 3 gallons of blood. One of the spleen’s resolutions is to act as a tank for blood. If blood is essential somewhere else in the body, the spleen will interact and power blood into the blood system. The spleen serves as a storing area for platelets, again being a source of assets to the blood system should it be necessary.

The spleen is a portion of the lymphatic system and aids in regulating the solutions in the body while performing a purifying function. The spleen eradicates red and white blood cells which are no longer operating correctly, breaks them down, and removes them. During this process, the spleen traps the iron or hemoglobin from the non-functioning cells and sends it back to the blood system.
