Occlusal

Occlusal: This is a medication known as “salicyclic acid topical”. It is prescribed for the use of helping clear and stop pimples and blemishes of the skin in individuals who have acne. This medication is used as well in the treatment of skin problems that involve overgrowth of skin cells and scaling such as psoriasis – which is a skin problem where scaly, red patches form on areas of the body, ichthyoses which is an inborn problem that causes skin scaling and dryness, corns, dandruff, calluses, as well as warts on the foot or hands. This medication should never be used in treating genital warts, facial warts, warts that have hair growing from them, warts of the mouth or nose, birthmarks or moles. This is a medication class referred to as keratolytic agents. It also is used in the treatment of acne by reducing redness and swelling and unplugging any skin pores that are blocked allowing pimples to shrink. It also treats other skin conditions by loosening and softening dry, thickened or scaling of the skin so that it drops off or may be easily removed.
