Nitrogenous Base

Nitrogenous base is a noun used in biochemistry and chemistry. It is a nitrogen-holding organic compound having the properties of a base, specifically purine and pyrimidine. There are 4 nitrogen bases present in DNA molecules. In a molecule of DNA, each nucleotide is made of deoxyribose which is a sugar that has 5-carbons, a base having nitrogen attached to the sugar as well as a phosphate group.
