Night Sweats

Night sweats is a condition commonly experienced by anyone. What are your parameters for you to consider that you’re having night sweats? For you to be able to different night sweats from that of a light sweat, it is crucial that you learn some of the defining characteristics of a night sweat. Generally, a night sweat can be pretty similar to that of hot flushes. Of course, you would experience this condition at nighttime while you are sleeping. You may be profusely sweating even when the weather is not unbearably hot. More often than not, you would find yourself drenched in sweat, including your clothes and the bed linens. You don’t have to worry though when you are experiencing this because it’s not at all times that this is an indication of a serious problem.

This condition may begin with benign causes such as covering your self with thick blankets or sleeping in a poorly ventilated room. If you think that these are the main culprits of your night sweats, then try providing your room some air and avoid using heavy blankets at night. There are also certain medications which would cause you to excessively sweat especially during nighttime. Women in their menopausal period would also report to have experienced night sweats. Never be too smug though because this condition can also be due to a serious pathology such as cancer, infections and problems with the endocrine gland. All of these conditions would cause you to liberally sweat at night.

Night sweating is not really an alarming condition unless this becomes a chronic problem which disrupts your sleep pattern or when this is being accompanied by other symptoms such as fever and sudden weight loss. When any of these is present, then without a doubt you should pay your doctor a visit. Overall, this condition is not really something to worry about.
