Needle Phobia

Needle Phobia is a medical condition affecting at least 10 percent of the population to such an extent that some individuals avoid all needed medical care.

There are many cases called needle phobia that go far beyond being afraid of needles. Many individuals would much rather die than have any procedure involving a needle and countless numbers of individuals actually do die for this reason.

Needle phobia is a condition that is very complex. In excess of over half of the cases of needle phobia are essentially true medical conditions, possibly with some origins in genetics and not a real phobia at all.

It is unique among phobias due to the fact that it is a direct basis of death in many documented cases and undocumented cause of countless millions of deaths worldwide among individuals who will avoid all dental and medical care due to this condition. Taking into account the undocumented deaths, undoubtedly this puts needle phobia in the list of leading causes of premature deaths.
