Laparoscopic Gastric Banding

Laparoscopic Gastric Banding is a minimally invasive surgery involving the application of a band which is an artificial device around the stomach and forming a gastric pocket pouch that is small with an opening that is regulated to the rest of the stomach.

This is a surgery used in the rapidly growing field of weight loss surgery.

The benefits of the laparoscopic gastric banding surgery include: surgical pain as well as trauma that is reduced, less invasion of the wall of the abdomen since it only requires several small incisions, less invasion of the stomach, shorter stay in the hospital – usually overnight, respect for the functional and anatomical reliability of the stomach since it does not by pass portions of the intestines or the stomach, individualized to each patient’s individual requirements via deflation or inflation of the band, and is entirely revocable by simply removing the lap band.
