Anterior Cingulate Cortex
Anterior Cingulate Cortex: This is also denoted as ACC and is the front zone of the “cingulate cortex” that looks a lot like a “collar” formed about the “corpus callosum” that is the fibrous packet that transmits neural signals back and forward from the left and right hemispheres of the brain. This contains the Brodmann areas 32, 24, and 33 which seem to have functions in a great number of autonomic roles, for instance regulating heart rate and blood pressure, and rational cognitive functions such as reward anticipation, empathy, decision-making as well as other emotions.
